Sydney Commitment CeremoniesSame Sex Celebrant, Supporting Marriage Equality, LGBTQIA friendly
I have always supported Marriage Equality and am delighted that I can now legally officiate marriages for all eligible couples.
However, some couples may have personal reasons for not having a legal marriage ceremony. Perhaps they don’t believe in the institution itself but are still firmly committed to each other and their relationship and wish to make a public declaration of this in front of their family and friends. Or maybe one or both may not yet be free to legally marry or perhaps there is a vital piece of paperwork missing but they want to go ahead with their planned celebration anyway.
Adults in both heterosexual and same-sex relationships are eligible to register their relationship with Sydney Commitment Ceremonies, provided at least one of them lives in NSW. For more information go to NSW BDM.
These ceremonies generally follow the same basic structure as a marriage ceremony, without there being a legal declaration or legal document to commemorate it.
A Civil Celebrant must make it clear to everyone present that it is not a legal marriage. However, these ceremonies are just as meaningful as any wedding.
The cost of a Commitment Ceremony is $300 – $450 depending on the number of guests (maximum 30) and whether you want your ceremony on a weekday or weekend/public holiday. All ceremonies must be within 5 km of Neutral Bay.
A non-refundable booking fee of 50% of the total fee secures your date and time in my diary. The balance is due two weeks before your ceremony.
Please contact me to talk about your commitment ceremony or to arrange an obligation-free meeting.
